In some cases, we will be required to discuss the results with a team of specialists, in a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting.
* Our standard ADHD assessment package is suitable for the majority of individuals we see. However, in a small number of more complex presentations, we may recommend an additional psychiatric review. This is to ensure we are confident and thorough in our diagnostic conclusions—especially when there are overlapping difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, or sleep issues.
What is ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that occurs in around 1:20 children and 1:50 adults. Common symptoms include inattention, distractibility, disorganisation, over activity, restlessness, impulsiveness and mood instability.
Children and adults with ADHD can have many strengths such as being creative – some are excellent at ‘thinking outside the box’. On the other hand, school failure, anxiety and poor self-esteem are also common if ADHD is not recognised and managed.

ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis
While there is no single test for ADHD, our thorough, multi-step approach ensures a reliable assessment, fully compliant with NHS NICE guidelines.
ADHD can be treated using medicine or talking therapy, but a combination of both is often best.
Medication treatment routes can help relieve the symptoms and make the condition much less of a problem in day-to-day life. We understand this can be a daunting prospect and we are here to support you through this process.
If you decide to commence medication, we will regularly stay in touch to ensure you are benefiting from the treatment. Within the first few weeks, it is not uncommon for the medication dose to be slightly adjusted. Once stabilised on your medication, we will send your NICE compatible diagnostic report to your General Practitioner to commence ‘shared care’. This is the point at which your GP will take over the management and prescribing of your ADHD medication. Some GP’s request that annual follow up appointments remain with the specialist practitioner.
Psychological treatment can be used to target specific symptoms and lifestyle adaptations and we will tailor a treatment plan specifically to your individual presentation. We may refer you on for further support for example to an ADHD coach or occupational therapist.
Our Testimonials
“Our daughter's teacher was concerned because Lucy was struggling with her school work, despite being a bright little girl. Lucy became easily distracted in class and lacked concentration. She was falling behind which had an impact on her confidence."
"The school arranged for her to have a QB check to screen for ADHD. We understood this would give us some idea of what we were dealing with. Sure enough the results concluded a high likelihood of ADHD."
"We knew this was not a diagnosis but it helped us to understand Lucy better and the teachers were able to offer her a different kind of support in class. Our GP used the QB check report to support our referral for a full ADHD assessment with a paediatrician. Sadly, the NHS waiting time is 2-3 years so it’s reassuring to know we have support in place at school whilst we wait.”
"We’d always associated ADHD with hyperactive kids that struggled to sit still. We would never describe Kasper as being especially hyperactive."
"We’d never heard of inattentive type ADHD before Kasper’s diagnosis. Kasper has always been disorganised, he loses things easily, he’s forgetful and lacks focus. Kasper told us that he found it difficult to concentrate in class, yet we knew he could be incredibly focused on a topic he is interested in."
"We were so confused about where to go for help or what we needed to do to support Kasper. Tara was invaluable at guiding us through the process."
"Owen has always been a calm, easy going child but we knew he was going through life with the brakes on. He didn't seem to have any academic motivation or drive, which was frustrating for us as his parents."
"When Owen went to secondary school he quickly became known as the class clown, messing about and distracting other children. His grades were very poor. Teachers kept telling us he was bright but he wouldn’t remain focused. A friend suggested we had him tested for ADHD."
"After the assessment, Tara told us that Owen had inattentive ADHD. Tara prescribed medication and the results have been positive, especially in terms of his exam grades which have gone from averaging 4’s to 8’s in some subjects. Owen feels much happier and as a result, his confidence has improved."
