In some cases, we will be required to discuss the results with a team of specialists, in a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting.

*  Our standard ADHD assessment package is suitable for the majority of individuals we see. However, in a small number of more complex presentations, we may recommend an additional psychiatric review. This is to ensure we are confident and thorough in our diagnostic conclusions—especially when there are overlapping difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, or sleep issues.

Where this is required, we will always discuss it with you first, as there is an additional cost involved (please refer to fees page). A psychiatric assessment includes a 90-minute review by our consultant psychiatrist, with findings integrated into your existing report. This additional step may be required to enhance the quality and robustness of the diagnosis.

We only recommend this when it is clinically necessary and helpful.

What is ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that occurs in around 1:20 children and 1:50 adults. Common symptoms include inattention, distractibility, disorganisation, over activity, restlessness, impulsiveness and mood instability.

Children and adults with ADHD can have many strengths such as being creative – some are excellent at ‘thinking outside the box’. On the other hand, school failure, anxiety and poor self-esteem are also common if ADHD is not recognised and managed.

ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis

Our assessment process begins with no-cost initial screening questionnaires, which we review to determine if your symptoms and traits align with ADHD. This pre-assessment step provides reassurance for both you and us that you are on the right pathway before committing to any costs.
If alignment is indicated, we move to the appointment stages. A developmental history interview will be carried out online by a trainee psychologist to gather your background information. You will then be invited to the clinic for a QB check, which can be completed at home if needed. Finally, you will meet with a specialist clinician for the ADHD assessment.

While there is no single test for ADHD, our thorough, multi-step approach ensures a reliable assessment, fully compliant with NHS NICE guidelines.

ADHD can be treated using medicine or talking therapy, but a combination of both is often best.

Medication treatment routes can help relieve the symptoms and make the condition much less of a problem in day-to-day life. We understand this can be a daunting prospect and we are here to support you through this process.

If you decide to commence medication, we will regularly stay in touch to ensure you are benefiting from the treatment. Within the first few weeks, it is not uncommon for the medication dose to be slightly adjusted. Once stabilised on your medication, we will send your NICE compatible diagnostic report to your General Practitioner to commence ‘shared care’. This is the point at which your GP will take over the management and prescribing of your ADHD medication. Some GP’s request that annual follow up appointments remain with the specialist practitioner.

Psychological treatment can be used to target specific symptoms and lifestyle adaptations and we will tailor a treatment plan specifically to your individual presentation. We may refer you on for further support for example to an ADHD coach or occupational therapist.
